In the primary menu or when prompted by a login pop-up box, you create an account for your organization by clicking ‘Register’ and providing the system with your email (or username) and password.  The system will automatically log you into FintechCanada.io when creating your account for the first time.  Your user credentials should be saved for future reference.

Account Settings

Also on the User Settings page, you can control a variety of notification settings to your preference.  Simply choose from the options and make sure you save the updates.  You can also reset your password and control your Privacy Settings on this page to be public or private.

Messages and Content

Users can only receive messages and shared content from their connections.

Create a profile

To create a listing profile on FintechCanada.io click the [Add Listing] button located in the upper right corner of the primary menu.  You will be required to create an account and login (if you haven’t already).  Select which type of listing profile that best reflects your organization in terms of exporting objectives (Company, Investor, Vendor, Government or Other).  Next, complete all the informational fields on the form and then preview/submit the listing to save it to the database.  Listing profiles are associated with your user account.

View a listing

There are many ways to search for a listing from one of the search forms or the main Explore search page where you can access all of the listings published on FintechCanada’s database.  To view a listing, click on one of the listing ‘image cards’ which will bring you to the listing.

To edit your listing profile

Users can only edit listing profiles that they OWN.  If you own a listing profile and want to edit it, when viewing your listing, click the ‘edit pencil’ icon located next to your user name in the header image.  That will take you to the edit listing page where you update your information and save it back to the database.

Claim a listing

If you are the verified owner of a listing that has not yet been claimed, you can claim the listing but clicking the ‘Claim listing’ button available on the view listing page.  When you claim a listing it sends an email to the administrator of FintechCanada who will review your request and approve it accordingly.   Please allow sufficient time for this to happen and be ready to verify or answer any questions around your claim request.  Once you have rightfully claimed a listing you will be able to edit the listing profile accordingly.

The user control panel (page) can be accessed by selecting either Messages, Connections or Bookmarks on the drop-down menu with your account name. From the user control panel, you can view and manage your user level activity.

My organization:  view which listing profile is associated with your user account.  If none are listed, then you can either claim a listing or create a listing to own a listing.

Messages:  Send, receive and view your messages.

Activity:  view all activity related to your user profile.

Connections:  view, add and cancel your connections

Bookmarks:  view previously saved listing profiles that you bookmarked (when viewing listings).

Turn Notifications On/Off:  From within User Settings, locate ‘Notifications’ on the left panel and toggle on/off from the options available.  The default setting is to receive notifications for all activity like ‘messages’ or ‘connection requests’ received.

Benefits of connecting

Similar to LinkedIn and other social networking platforms, FintechCanada.io allows users to connect with each other which then allows private messages and content sharing.  All connections must be Approved and connections can also be ‘unconnected’ when things don’t work out. The system helps you facilitate connections but then it’s up to you to develop long term and mutually beneficial relationships!

How do I initiate a connection with someone else?

When exploring and viewing a listing profile that you like, click on a tab called ‘connections’ to view the owner of the listing.  If the listing does not have an owner or it’s an unclaimed profile (owned by the system administrator), then no connection request is possible.  However if a listing profile has an owner name that you would like to connect with, click on the owners name which will take you to the user control page where you click ‘Add Connection’ next to the owner that you want to connect with.  By doing so, the site will automatically send an email connection request to the owner who can either approval (or ignore) your request.  If they approve your connection request, you will be able to see them appear as a connection.

I received a connection request by email but I don’t want to connect with them, what do I do?

If this happens simply ignore the connection request.

Dashboard

Yes, once you’ve created a listing profile, FintechCanada.io will automatically track views and other activity related to your listing.  To view your listing analytics, go to the Dashboard page which is a dropdown menu option under your account profile name.  Dashboard is a convenient way to navigate between your connections, messages, user settings and bookmarked listing pages on the site.

FintechCanada.io and partners will be embarking on annual trade missions to select robust fintech markets each year as part of it’s export development program and with the purpose of helping Canadian fintechs to expand and scale overseas.  There are a handful of organizations that embark on international fintech missions across Canada.  The goal of FintechCanada.io is to collaborate with other organizations as much as possible to maximize trade mission opportunities for participating and select fintech companies.  Sign-up to NCFAs newsletter to stay plugged into weekly news, conferences and events and trade mission opportunities.
